KACEY MUSGRAVES - 'GOLDEN HOUR'

As someone who isn't from the US, the popularity of the country genre always surprises me, but I wasn't surprised to see Kacey Musgraves third record 'Golden Hour' on the list of Grammy nominations

Golden Hour is the perfect mix between pop and country; not so country that it can't be enjoyed by a wider audience, but country enough that it still fits with the genre. It's the type of sound that I can imagine Taylor Swift having if she hadn't strayed from her country roots. It doesn't have the intensity that a lot of country music has, and that makes it a really great album to enjoy.

Golden Hour is heartwarming and emotional and just a really pleasant album to listen to. The lyrics are clever and Musgrave's voice is beautiful and soothing which makes for the perfect combination. It's a very thoughtful album that discusses love and heartbreak but also life in general. A song that I found particularly great was Slow Burn, which just seemed to radiate calmness with it's guitar and lyrics about taking things slowly. As I said previously in reference to the album, was just a really nice song to sit back and listen to.

I always knew Kacey Musgraves was well-liked across the board and now I completely understand why. She's definitely a people pleaser, which shouldn't be seen as a bad thing here. This album just happens to slide between genres which means it's going to have a wide fanbase, and quite frankly, rightfully so.

THREE WORDS TO DESCRIBE: SWEET, SOFT AND SOOTHING.

COULD IT WIN? As good of an album it was, I feel like it won't snag the prize.

RATING OUT OF 5: 4/5!
